The lights of the Diwali dazzle us with new hopes & beginnings. The colors of Rangoli fill our lives with cheerfulness. This fun festival of lights is the most awaited festival and is celebrated with great excitement by all of us. However while enjoying the festivities, we tend to overlook lot of things that can cause harm to our eye health.
Here are few tips to keep yours and your family's eye health safe this Diwali:
- 1.Maintaining a distance while lighting up firecrackers:
While bursting crackers, the smoke emitted causes irritation in eyes and if the sparks come in contact with the eyes, it can lead one to blindness. Hence it is better to maintain a safe distance while lighting crackers.
- 2.Don’t burn crackers inside your house or in congested places:
Burning crackers in congested places or your house is very risky, it can lead to unfortunate events and also the amount of smoke inhaled can be fatal for your overall health, hence it is always important to light crackers in open spaces.
- 3.Don’t Wear Contact Lenses while burning crackers or even watching them:
It is always advisable to not wear lenses while burning crackers and instead wear glasses to protect your eyes. Contact lenses cause irritation in eyes if exposed directly to the heat.
- 4.Don’t rub your eyes without washing your hands:
Rubbing your eyes without washing your hands means directly exposing gun powder and different chemicals to your eyes which may cause fatal infection. Hence make sure to wash your hands properly after making Rangoli or lighting crackers, etc.
- 5.Don’t rub your eyes in-case of injury:
Don’t rub your eyes in case of any injury as it would directly lead to spreading it more and worsening it. Instead try to contact immediate medical help.
- 6.In case of any accident, contact medical services immediately.
